FAQ

Question:

How long does it take to fulfill a public records request?
Answer:

Florida law states that an agency must acknowledge requests promptly and respond in good faith; and further, must respond within a "reasonable time". This is the time it takes to search for responsive documents, retrieve the records by physical copying or electronic scanning, and processing the records for release by reviewing and then redacting, if necessary, prior to release. Some requests may only take a few minutes while others may take multiple weeks. The length of time depends on the activity, volume, and scope. Florida Department of Children and Families is committed to providing records as quickly and efficiently as possible.
